Wind Turbine Visit

On Tuesday morning we were lucky enough to get out in the sunshine and visit a wind turbine in Dounby.  Richard Gauld took us as he looks after this turbine.

We enjoyed our bus journey there as Jimmy let us watch a DVD on the bus TV - RANGO!

Then we walked up the road to the turbine.  It was roasting - why on earth did we take coats!!!

We took it in turns to look inside the turbine.  When we were not with Richard we had a great time running around the site or playing with Richard's very cute dog, Toby.

These are some of the controls that are inside the turbine.  There was lots of buttons and numbers to look at but Richard explained them to us.

There were a few of us who got the chance to switch the turbine on and off.  We had to answer a tricky question to show that we had been listening hard to Richard during the explanation.

After our very informative visit we had a picnic lunch in the sunshine.  We found a nice grassy spot away from she sheep and got settled. Some of us were keen to explore the little burn - and started to jump over it.  We even tried to get Miss Kelday to jump over it too but she was too scared! Maybe next time!!!
