Lighthouse Challenge

We have been working together in small groups to complete this circuit building challenge.  We are using our knowledge of circuit building to create a working lighthouse.

Part 1

To start with we had to decide what would need to make our lighthouse work.  We used the circuit equipment to create a light with a switch.  Some of us even thought about trying to make the lamp rotate. 

Our knowledge of circuits and problem solving skills were strong and we were able to complete this part of the task quite quickly.  

Writing - Instructions

We were improving our skills in writing a set of instructions, taking special care to vary our sentence openers.  We made some pizzas at school to prepare for the lesson.  We thought carefully about the order we completed each part and the actions (verbs) we made.

We came up with a list of words and phrases to help us with our instruction writing.

We were learning all about Viking trading in term 2.  We looked at the countries involved in trading goods with each other and set up a viking market to have a go for ourselves.  We each became one of 7 countries.  We made items to trade and created a poster to advertise our goods.  In the hall we set up stalls and spent some time trading.  We learnt how to spot a good deal and how to haggle to get the best price.

Our market was truely bustling and we had a great time!
