Fractions

Recently the Triangles and Squares were looking at fractions.

We used division and multiplication to find a fraction of a number and shape.  We were getting really good at discussing our learning and explaining the rules of fractions to others.

We moved on to mixed and improper fractions.  We were finding this a peedie bit tricky so we thought that the best way to secure our learning was to teach the topic to someone else.

We had a look at some of the Glaitness School blogs.  They regularly create teaching videos - we liked this idea.  We decided to do the same. 

The photos below show us working together to plan our short video clip.  As this was the first time we found it quite a challenge.  We had to really think about the language we needed to use and the workings out on our whiteboards had to match our explaination.

We didn't get as far as filming our explanations but a few groups shared their scripts with the rest of the group.
