Wave Energy

One of the activities in the HIE Big Green Renewable Box was to create a mini model Pelamis.

We followed the instructions (it was a fiddly job) and made the model.

We then played about in some water (and what a mess we made) to make waves.

We were watching carefully for the different parts of the Pelamis moving in the waves.  This gave us a good idea of how the real device works. 

We thought our model would work better if it was secured to the bottom of the sea (or water tray in our case) as the Pelamis kept moving about. 

These photos show us building the model, making waves in the tray and testing out the movement of the mini Pelamis. What fun we had - even if we did get a little wet!
