Solar Power

We have now moved on to learning about solar power.

We understand that this energy comes from the sun and its powerful rays or light and heat.

One of the boys came across a solar panel in a surprising place the other day...

...in a calculator.  He shared this find with the rest of the class and explained that the calculator works when it is in sunlight but turns itself off when the panel has no light.

We also built solar ovens (another super activity from the HIW Big Green Box)

We are going to have to wait for a sunny day to test out our Solar Ovens.
