Solar Ovens

Oops, Miss Kelday found a few photographs from lurking behind from Term 3.
Better late than never!

Here we are with the Solar Ovens that we built.

We tested the temperature before starting the experiment.  This was about 24 degrees for each group.

We then decided on different places to test our ovens.  2 groups stayed in the classroom and used the classroom window sill and the other 2 groups went outside in the sunshine.

We tested the temperature every hour or so and recorded the change in the chocolate bar.

The outside ovens were doing much better then the inside ones.   Inside the solar ovens outside the tempetaure was nearly up at 40 degrees C.  The tinfoil was reflecting the heat and bouncing it back into the oven.  The plastic film was making the heat stay inside the oven, which melted the chocolate.
